Blessed Oracle, our Wise Old Owl

Picture
Tears as I write this..Oracle was one in a million...wise, loving, compassionate, gentle, and very old when he came to us.  My dear communicator July alerted me to his situation, in LA, with another. She thought he was a 'reject' from a breeding situation. If they don't have the desired "look" they are killed or discarded. He had been at the colony of one of her clients, and she was desperate to get Oracle and his friend into a safe situation. July has done so much for me that I could not say no to her!

Oracle arrived by plane, having endured the trip with grace. His friend Toffee came later by car: the caretaker had felt that the fear he expressed going into the carrier did not bode well for a successful journey.  Some kind folks whose niche is "transport" drove him up! He is still with us, and quite a comfort now.
Oracle proved to be invaluable. He comforted and bathed all the babies, as well as anyone else who came into his view...he was dignified and serene.  He had a great love of new places to be...and of course, any box handy.
When July first called me, she thought that he was blind, and that Toffee was caring for him.  But as it turned out, he did have one bad eye (detached lens, ouch) but one good one! And he had been watching out for Toffee, who was younger.
We are so very fortunate to have had Oracle in our lives for the past two-plus years. He is greatly missed!
