Mother Chloe And Her Five Fat Babies.

We are fortunate to have mother and babies together! SO much better for all involved! Mother was being fed, but (obviously) not been spayed, by a caretaker in Richmond. The caretaker will take mother Chloe back after the babies have found homes. (She's spayed now:-))
I trapped mother on February 17, and the babies were born on March 5. The interval gave mother time to get some good nutrition into her to benefit her and the babies. And the babies! When I first laid eyes on them, I was astonished! They were HUGE!! I didn't bother mother for three days, then weighed them. They weighed almost twice what the average is for three-day olds!! Never seen the like!
Mother wanted to injure me badly at first, and now tolerates me.  Bless her, this is not easy for her, never having been in a  house before. But we believe  she's grateful to have a safe place for her babies, warmth, and good food and water. She has a room to herself with cat trees, a bay window seat, and lots of beds. The babies are four weeks old now, and eating on their own, and of course using the litter box. Don' need no training!!

A bit of (non-toxic, non-0GMO) litter on his nose!

As soon as they can toddle, they find the litter box. Low sides are helpful :-)! They cry with excitement, and dig and dig! Note the lovely little turds on the left of the frame!
