Zoe the Wonderful
Our Zoe was born to a free-living mother who was scheduled to be spayed the next day! What a surprise and delight to find three babies with her that morning! Zoe was smart and quick, and always interested on what was on my plate. Her mother is still with us, though eats junk food around the corner most of the time. Zoe is much missed!
Dearest Beloved Bridges
Bridges' passing was unexpected. He saw an holistic vet last Monday to start an herbal treatment for seizures, and he died on the following Friday (not from the treatment :-)) He had a couple of other problems that we know of, but must have had one or two that were not known. Bridges was found on the street, almost unconscious, had a happy life with us here! We gave him all the love and care possible, and miss him very, very much!
Stella came to us from the streets with her sister Masie. Masie died soon after. When kittens are born with deformed eyes, chances are that the brain adjacent may also be improperly developed. Masie had a couple of good weeks with her sister, and died quickly and quietly, bless her. Stella's eyes could pick up a bit of light, which made it possible for her to climb trees...but they were problematic, and the eye specialist said after several visits, that her vision was next to nothing now, and that the dangers of infection etc. were great. So after getting two other opinions, all the same, her little eyes came out. She had lost what small vision she had gradually, so was able to navigate splendidly. She just didn't climb trees anymore, and stayed in the back yard exclusively. They know their limits!! She was never completely well, however. One blood panel left two doctors thinking she'd be gone in days, but she lived months after those predictions. Stella had a strong, confident personality, and loved her short life as much as we loved her!

Carter the Sweet
Carter was found as a week-old baby in Wildcat Canyon Park, near us. He was always sweet and gentle, and never pushed to the front of the line, though he loved lap time as much as anyone. He waited till there was an opening, and then quietly crept in. Unassuming and dear, Carter leaves a big space around here!
A caller found a mother and babies on his patio; he thought some had died. I went to the house, and yes, two were gone. I was not able to trap the mother, as she had moved one of the remaining two babies. I could not locate them. The one left, this girl, was on the cold ground, and I had to make a decision. Mother might not dare come back; I had worried her. So I brought Griselle home. She had the strength to nurse, and I was encouraged. But she had diarrhea, which worsened till it was white...very bad. I fed her, and put her in with the other babies & mother. Donna mothered her, but she passed the next afternoon. May she come back as a jungle cat.
