Knight II & Berry

Picture
They died separately, but were always together. Brother and sister taken from a junk-filled back yard. There had been, we were told, five, but we only found these two. went back night after night and set traps...If the babies had been there, they would have gone into the traps for food. No sign of their mother :-(. They were just old enough to be afraid of humans (about nine weeks) but started to purr and trust us, and soon were out of their cage for most of the time.  Knight  was allowed out more than Berry, as he was "catchable" on the ground. Berry would still run from us.  Still, it was Knight that we could not find one night as it got dark. Panic, major search...figured he was sleeping somewhere hidden and finally gave up. We never saw him again. Being white, he would have been easy for a predator to spot. We found no signs of predation, no fur or blood ... Little ones do not wander; do not 'run off' (tho the only rule I have with cats is "you never know".
Shortly after Knight's disappearance, Berry faded and died. She developed a cold, and it just got worse. I'm sure grief over her brother played a part. they are greatly missed.
