We finally found the problem with Elizabeth! Her liver values were "off'' and an ultrasound and blood work didn't show anything amiss. We went back for a liver biopsy, and it showed amyloid deposits all throughout her liver. Not good. This condition had only been found in seven short-haired domestic cats, and no treatment had been successful.
Elizabeth came home, stayed close to us, usually on my lap, and died quietly and peacefully on March 9. We buried heron March 12.
