Beautiful Princess...
This sweet lady was left on our front deck, in a carrier, with this note:
Princess was very quiet, I'm thinking depressed and homesick...a caller the morning she came had asked if I'd take a cat whose elderly guardian could not care for her any more. I think this caller was the one who left Princess, but when I called the number she called from, I could not get any information...I would have liked to know her medical history, maybe even been able to bring Princess to visit...was not going to 'blame' ....but ...may have been calling the wrong people.
Princess perked up a bit after I gave her fluids, and the treats she liked. A bag of them was left with her...she was very passive, but did startle and lash out a couple of times...she was confused, I'm sure, and trying to cope.
She came on July 27, and never ate much, but by August second, had stopped eating completely. Not even her treats. I gave her every kind of food, nada. She dropped weight, too, as they will when they are dying. I thought she might be shutting down. I took her to the vet. She was getting weak, and started to die as we were doing the exam. The sweet vet rushed her into oxygen, and I went with her. It was obvious that she was trying to die. She was having trouble breathing. In such a situation, I feel that help is warranted and wanted. We talked with her, told her how much we loved her, and she went quietly. I wonder if she didn't die of a broken heart.
