Ryan came to us just in the nick of time. His mother had to go to (the wonderful) PETS Referral emergency hospital, as she was having trouble giving birth to what turned out to be her fourth baby. Ryan and his two siblings had already born, and were with their mother in a thin patch of dirt and a scraggly bush between two driveways! Poor dear Eliza, as I named his mother, was willing to let me take them to safety. She spent the night in the hospital, and I nursed the three healthy babies. the fourth one did not survive, and is buried here. Ryan was the strongest of the remaining three, although he did develop an eye infection. My regular ophthalmologist was booked up, so we got to meet the wonderful Dr. Tomo Wiggins in Walnut Creek. What a great doctor! Kind and skillful! Ryan's sibling saw him too. Ryan's third eyelid had fused with his cornea, and Dr. Wiggins was able to separate it surgically! Amazing!! Dr. Wiggins says his eyesight in the affected eye is just fine, even though the lid still covers it a bit. Ryan was the best patient EVER! Everyone said so! Now he's ready for a new home...with one of his siblings, we hope! Come meet this chunky, fat (not really fat) soft-furred lover!
